Fun Couples Lake Session in Idaho

I love shooting elopements, but I also love shooting adventure sessions. The rustic feel. The down to earth people I get to meet. The granola vibe if you will ;) All of it screams making memories, which is what I want my brand, Kim Captures Photography, to stand for.

I want adventure sessions to be more than spending two hours posing in a pretty scenery and sending the couple on their way. An adventure shoot to me means taking a couple outdoors and inviting them to do an activity that is important and significant to them in their relationship.

Meagan and Bryce are the perfect example of a down-for-adventure type couple who grow and thrive together through sharing the same love nature and the same love for their favorite activities. In their case it’s mountain biking.

Boho Southern Utah Elopement

There, Navy stood looking at Daniel with her curly silver-purple hair, flowy a-line chiffon dress, low cut flower top with strappy back detailing, a sheer sunflower-dotted veil and black and white checkered sandals. Standing in front of Navy, Daniel held her near in his brown plaid trousers, a cream cowboy hat and long hair. They embraced each other. They shared their vows. They cried. And although I couldn’t hear them, I captured those special moments while they were on the rock.

Ten minutes later they climbed down to the long awaited ceremony. Their guests sat on green camp chairs and held matching fans to their faces to cool themselves down. Electric guitar filled the space, as one of their friends started playing in the shade to escape the heat while he waited. The warm tones in the rock, sand and brush felt inviting and elegant, but the vibrant colors and patters their loved ones wore added to the wildness of Navy’s checkered sandals.

Navy’s dad walked her down the dessert sand path until both she and Daniel stood on a moroccan rug at the end of the isle. A copper arch with dried flowers, palm leaves and a potted cactus against southern Utahs red rocks matched the earthy boho wedding they were looking for. And we can’t forget about Bruce. He lounged at Daniels feet and Navy’s dress, waiting for the big “I do.”

Intimate Wedding in Teton National Park

Colleen and Nick reached out to me in November of 2020 when they were living in Virginia. Virginia is nowhere near the Tetons or Wyoming. It’s always really exciting to get somebody that reaches out to me when they live far away!

Their story began on a hike and continued through the night when they stayed out enjoying their favorite bubbly beverage at a house party, where they laughed and enjoyed the company of their friends.

Since then, the first moments of their story turned into many more moments of climbing mountains, fishing, camping and exploring the outdoors together. Through time this adventurous couple created their own special life together where they have a love for good beer and good food (as Colleen would say) and are the proud owners of their two well loved dogs. Later when I met them I learned of their desire to move out west to get their fix for all things national parks, meadows and mountains after their elopement.
